June Monthly Maintenance

Living in South Orange County - events, real estate, and local life.

June kicks off the official start of summer—and with the longer days, warmer temps, and more time spent outdoors, it’s the perfect month to give your home a seasonal tune-up. Whether you’re planning backyard hangouts or just trying to stay cool, this checklist will keep your home running efficiently all summer long.

✅ Adjust Sprinklers for Summer Efficiency

Hotter days mean more watering—but smarter watering. Set timers for early morning or evening, and make sure nozzles are targeting plants (not the sidewalk). Look for signs of leaks or dry spots.

✅ Tune Up the Air Conditioning

June is prime AC season. If you haven’t done so yet, schedule a professional inspection or at least clean the condenser coils, replace the air filter, and test the system for proper cooling before a heatwave hits.

✅ Check Window Seals and Coverings

Inspect windows and sliding doors for leaks or gaps letting cool air out. Swap out or install UV-blocking curtains or shades to reduce indoor heat and lower energy bills.

✅ Clean Ceiling Fans & Reverse Blade Direction

Make sure ceiling fans are spinning counterclockwise to push cool air downward. Wipe blades clean of dust and pollen for better air quality.

✅ Deep Clean Outdoor Furniture

Whether you’re hosting or just relaxing outside, give your patio furniture, cushions, umbrellas, and outdoor rugs a thorough clean to keep them fresh, inviting, and mildew-free.

✅ Inspect & Refill Fire Extinguishers

Fire season starts heating up in California. Check that your fire extinguisher is fully charged and hasn’t expired. Bonus: Practice where it’s stored and how to use it in case of emergency.

✅ Wash & Seal Driveways or Pavers

June’s dry weather is ideal for pressure washing driveways and resealing if needed. It protects surfaces from heat damage and keeps your curb appeal looking sharp.

✅ Bug-Proof Your Home

Seal cracks, check screens, and place traps or deterrents where needed. Summer is high season for ants, spiders, and fruit flies—especially near doors, windows, and the kitchen.
