Hillside living in one of Irvine’s first villages
Turtle Rock was established in 1967 as one of Irvine’s five original villages. It sits in the San Joaquin Hills, bounded by University Drive and Mason Regional Park to the north, Strawberry Farms Golf Club and Ridgeline Drive to the east, Shady Canyon Drive to the south, and Culver Drive to the west. Turtle Rock Drive loops through the heart of the village.
The name is traced to a rock outcropping on Rockview Drive shaped like the front of a turtle’s shell. Compared with much of Irvine, Turtle Rock has a higher share of larger single-family detached homes, many dating to the 1970s, alongside remodels and newer custom homes.
